Ketofen

Ketofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that can be used to alleviate inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders in the horse.

The recommended dosage is 1 mg/lb (1 mL/100 lbs) of body weight once daily. Treatment is administered by intravenous injection and may be repeated for up to five days. Onset of activity is within two hours with peak response by 12 hours.

Prescription Drug Policy:

Prescriptions CAN NOT be shipped to North Carolina, Hawaii or Alaska at this time.

Prescription drugs can only be shipped upon receipt of an original prescription from a licensed veterinarian. FarmVet can accept an original prescription in one of the following ways:

  The fax must originate from the veterinarian's office.
• A licensed veterinarian can call & leave a voicemail with your prescription information with our pharmacy at 615-277-5602.

Prescriptions are non-refundable. Prescriptions are refillable if indicated by your vet, for up to one year from the original date. At the end of one year, prescriptions must be updated. Written prescriptions must include the veterinarian's license number, telephone number, and address. Federal law restricts the use of Rx drugs to use by, or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

This product should not be used in breeding animals since the effects of Ketofen on fertility, pregnancy or fetal health in horses have not been determined. Not for use in horses intended for food. Studies to determine activity of Ketofen when administered concomitantly with other drugs have not been conducted. Drug compatibility should be monitored closely in patients requiring adjunctive therapy. No known contraindications. Side Effects: During investigational studies, no significant side effects were reported.
