Adequan® I.M. (100 mg/5 mL) for horses is a prescription medication recommended for intramuscular use that is used in the treatment of arthritis, degenerative joint disease (not caused by infections), or joint injury with associated lameness. Adequan I.M. restores synovial fluid, stimulates cartilage repair, and decreases inflammation and joint pain. Adequan I.M. is Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan and should be injected intramuscularly.

Details

Adequan® I.M. for horses (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) is the only FDA-approved treatment proven to relieve symptoms of non-infectious degenerative osteoarthritis, to stimulate cartilage repair and reverse the joint disease process. There is no generic version of Adequan® I.M for horses.

Contains 500mg of Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan for every dose. The recommended dose is 5ml every 4 days. Use for 28 days.

Instructions

Thoroughly clean injection site prior to injection. Inject Adequan intramuscularly. If you have any questions or have difficulty injecting Adequan, contact your veterinarian.

Administer

Inject 500 mg (5ml) intramuscularly every 4 days for 7 injections. Use for 28 total days.

Prescription drugs can only be shipped upon receipt of an original prescription from a licensed veterinarian. FarmVet can accept an original prescription in one of the following ways:

Prescriptions are non-refundable. Prescriptions are refillable if indicated by your vet, for up to one year from the original date. At the end of one year, prescriptions must be updated. Written prescriptions must include the veterinarian's license number, telephone number, and address. Federal law restricts the use of Rx drugs to use by, or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Caution

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Do not mix with other drugs or solutions. Do not give your horse Adequan if they are pregnant or lactating. Consult your veterinarian before use if your horse has liver or kidney disease, blood clotting or coagulation disorders. Keep out of reach of pets or children. Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. 

If an allergic reaction occurs after treating your horse with Adequan, stop treatment and seek emergency veterinary help.
